If you joined us for our 2021 AX summit, you may have caught this short video that played at the end of the event. It’s a fun 60-second TV spot that highlights the Deaf Hoops Facebook group, an online deaf basketball community. Because it has no dialogue, this version includes Audio Description (AD), a technique for adding narration to describe what’s happening for people who are blind or visually impaired. We hope you enjoy it. And, if you didn’t catch it during the week of Global Accessibility Awareness Day, we invite you to watch the Facebook 2021 AX Summit: https://fb.watch/5V0B_NVrC3/
When Facebook Product Designer Ramya R. first learned how her young son’s rare disease would affect his movement and cognition for the rest of his life, she despaired. Then, she built an entire accessibility design team. In celebration of Global Accessibility Awareness Day, we interviewed Ramya to understand her path from someone who didn’t know what “accessibility” meant to becoming one of its fiercest advocates and a leader in creating accessible employee tools at Facebook.
